Academician Yuan Yaxiang introduced how to be a graduate student based on his personal growth experience and student training experience.
Brief introduction of the speaker:
Yuan Yaxiang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, who is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the vice chairman of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, the chairman of the International Federation of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Developing Countries, the correspondent of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, the first fellow of the American Mathematical Society, and the fellow of the American Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics. Academician Yuan Yaxiang has made outstanding contributions in the fields of nonlinear optimization calculation methods, trust region methods, quasi-Newton methods, and conjugate gradient methods. In 2014, he was invited by the International Union of Mathematics to give a 45-minute report at the International Conference of Mathematicians in Korea. Academician Yuan Yaxiang won the first prize of the "Chinese Academy of Sciences Young Scientist Award", the first "Fengkang Scientific Computing Award", the third "Chinese Young Scientist Award", "National Outstanding Youth Fund", "China's Top Ten Outstanding Young Scientists", "State Key Laboratory Program Advanced Individual Award" of Science and Technology Ministry of and other awards.
